Some Liveaboard Boats for Sale

Often I find myself browsing Craigslist for liveaboard sailboats that I like, even though I already own one. For some reason being on “the hunt” for a nice sailboat is one of my favorite past times. I thought I would take a minute to share some of New England’s best deals that are on the market now, in case you’re looking for a boat yourself!

Keep in mind, these boats are just a sampling of what is out there. There are also lots of power boats for sale and boats that are too small/too big for my liking. If you want my help in searching out your next boat, let me know! I am a pro with google and other online search engines and I know what to look for in a decent liveaboard.

Onto the boats! The first one for today is an S2 36′. Travis and I fell in love with one of these that was above our price range before we found Seabird. This one isn’t the center cockpit model, but still a nice boat and a good deal at $37,000 (I imagine he would take a little less this time of year, and in this economy).

Next up is a Catalina 30. Travis and I lived on (and loved, at the time) a Catalina 27 for a little under a year. This boat was just a bit too small for us, but Catalina’s are great value boats for coastal cruising and for living aboard. This one, located in Falmouth MA for an asking price of $20,000, has had a lot of work done to her in the last few years. She also has an ideal layout for living aboard (well, no aft cabin, but a really nice salon).

The next boat is an interesting one, but has no good photographs on the advertisement. It’s a 31′ twin keeled sailboat. These can be really great designs for coastal cruising as you can get into shallower places than a lot of other boats. Located in Yarmouth, ME, and asking only $10,000 (!!) this could be a really nice liveaboard for a value-minded Mainer.

This last boat (for today) is a Pearson 30. These can be pretty small for living on full time but the price is right on this girl (asking $9,500, located in Nyack, NY) and she appears to be in good shape. She does have an A4 engine which is not ideal, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

That’s all for now, folks! If you’re looking for a nice liveaboard boat the winter time is always a good season to buy. You can start working on her and get her ready to launch, just in time for spring!

Best wishes everyone, xo!
